PVSA Information

The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude and national recognition. Along with the ultimate honor of presidential recognition, recipients will receive a personalized certificate, an official pin, medallion, or coin and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States.

Hours are measured over a 12-month period (May 1-mid-April each year) and awards are designated based on cumulative hours. The awards are offered in multiple levels and are designed to recognize each milestone of your service achievement. Levels include bronze, silver, and gold.

At Old Donation School, service is at the heart of our Plan for Continuous Improvement. Each year, it is our goal that the percentage of students in grades (2-5) and (6-8) reporting volunteer hours for community service projects will increase by 10 percentage points or more as measured by data collected through the President's Volunteer Service Award program. Ultimately, we encourage all students to participate.

As the PVSA organization has restructured the program, we have had to make adjustments to the manner in which we document the service of our students. If you would like for your child to participate, please complete the “Parent and Volunteer Information” document on the website and send it to school with your child as soon as possible or email the completed form to Mr. C. Eric Bone, School Improvement Specialist, at [email protected] From this point forward, students are to submit their “Volunteer Service Log” to the school three times each year by established dates. The dates for the 2019-2020 school year are November 1, 2019, January 24, 2020, and April 10, 2020. Logs may be emailed directly to Mr. Bone or given to him in the main office.

Should you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Mr. Bone.
